Each passing year, the entertainment world loses some of its stars. While some deaths are due to natural causes others are tragic. This year took the lives of more celebrities than most others before it. Some of the stars who passed in 2016 were the greatest of all time in their respective crafts.
You’ve probably heard of some of these deaths, but there are also a lot you didn’t hear about. Prepare to commemorate some of the brightest stars who ever lived during our time.
1. Alan Thicke (69)
Everyone loved Alan Thicke in Growing Pains. He played the reasonable and kind-hearted father perfectly. Aside from acting, Thicke dabbled in songwriting. On December 13, 2016, he fell to the ground while playing hockey with his son. Thicke didn’t think it was serious, but he later died of a heart attack in the hospital.
2. David Bowie (69)
David Bowie was one of the most majestic and creative musicians of our time. No one did it quite like the Starman. On January 10, 2016, Bowie succumbed to liver cancer.
3. Anton Yelchin (27)
You may have seen Anton in the new Star Trek films. His career was on the rise when a tragic accident took his life. His Jeep Grand Cherokee pinned him against a pillar outside of his home and suffocated him to death.
4. Janet Reno (78)
Janet Reno served as the Attorney General of the United States from 1993 until 2001. President Clinton was the person who brought her on board. In 1995, Reno was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. The disease slowly but surely wore her down until her final days.
